Girl with colorful hair

Due to inclement weather and missed days we will have Crazy Hair day this Wednesday, the 24th.

Congratulations to our Raleigh Road readers!  It’s time for students to get creative and come up with the craziest hair in celebration of surpassing 30,000 books read for our Reading Rodeo.  We are on our way to reaching our 90,000 goal, and we are celebrating each milestone along the way.  Show your school spirit and love of reading by wearing your craziest hair style on Wednesday, January 17th.

There are 120 Colts on the Reading Rodeo board. Keep reading and logging those books/chapters into the Reading Logs. And remember, we will have a dance if we can get all students on the Reading Rodeo board by the 100th day of school!

Salt spilled on tables Most of us get more sodium than we need. Even if you go easy on the salt shaker, your sodium intake may still be high. Packaged and prepared foods such as ready-to-eat products or restaurants meals are common sources of sodium. Learn about common sources of sodium. Image of the cover of The Polar Express by Chris VanAllsburg showing a train engine in the snowy nightTuesday, December 19 is an early release day, but it’s one you won’t want to miss as Raleigh Road celebrates its annual POLAR EXPRESS DAY.  Come to school in your jammies, get your ticket from Conductors Beavers and Shepard, have your ticket punched when you enter your class train car, and you’ll be ready for activities based on the Caldecott winner, The Polar Express by Chris VanAllsburg. There’s no charge for this special train ride, so……”All Aboard!”

Just remember, you still need to wear shoes (not slippers) to school, and don’t forget to brush your teeth and comb your hair!

Put on your pajamas; grab your favorite reading buddy (stuffed animal or doll) and come out to Raleigh Road’s Pizza/AR Read-In Tuesday, November, 21st from 5:00-6:30!

Parents and students will have a chance to read books together and students will AR test to see how well they comprehend the story.  Students can also decorate a bookmark or pointer to take with them and use while reading.

We appreciate your partnership as we teach our Little Colt Friends to love reading.
