Planning to dine out with family and friends? Be sure to decode the menu to choose healthier options. Navigate the buffet and look for items that are roasted, baked, braised, broiled, poached, seared, grilled, steamed, or sauteed. The saturated fat, sodium, and added sugars found in foods and beverages are important for you to think about as you build your healthy eating style. Learn more about Choosing Foods and Beverages.

But Mom, I AM ready for school! It’s PAJAMA DAY!

Yee Haw!  Our Raleigh Road Colts have read 40,000 books/chapters for the Reading Rodeo program, so it’s time to celebrate with PAJAMA DAY!  Tuesday, February 14 is the day!  Remember, you still need to brush your teeth, wash your face, comb your hair, and wear shoes (no slippers or Crocs).

Keep reading every night and logging your books.  Let’s make sure we reach the 80,000 book goal by May 19 so you can help Mr. Fred “ketchup” on his reading!  We’d love to see our Colts in the green pasture cover our one and only Mr. Fred in all that glorious, red ketchup.  And if you reach 90,000 books, then ALL students can Silly String Mrs. Evans!

You can do it!  Reading ROCKS at Raleigh Road!

Image of the Reading Rodeo bulletin board with colts in the corral and colts in the green pasture.Back in August, all RRES Colts accepted the challenge to read 100 books by the 100th day of school to earn a dance party with their teachers.  To win the challenge, ALL students must have a Colt on the Reading Rodeo board by February 16.

Is your child on the board yet?  There are 188 Colts on the board, but we still need about 45 Colts to get reading and get in the corral.  Remember to read every night to and with your child, and log those titles in their Reading Rodeo folder.

Image of the number 100 in red surrounded by yellow flowers and green leavesWhat will you look like when you’re 100 years old?  What will your teachers look like?  And what about Mr. Fred?  We’ll find out on Thursday, February 16 when we all celebrate the 100th day of school by dressing up like we’re 100 years old!   Let’s hope Nurse Joy is with us that day in case we need her!
